Welcome!!

"When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence"
-Ansel Adams

I'm Nicole and I'm glad you have stumbled upon my little space on the net to show you what I do as a portrait and fine art photographer in the Boston Area. By day, I am a college administrator for a local art college and can't get enough of the students I get to work with! Personally, I like books on a rainy day, the smells of fall (apple crisp, foliage, pumpkin spice lattes!), and traveling. Some of my dislikes include Boston traffic, dirty dishes, and sweet iced tea.

Feel free to look around. Get an idea about my photography style, learn more about me, even be introduced into my life. Come back soon!

"This is my family. I found it, all on my own. Is little and broken but still good. Yeah, still good." - 'Stitch' from Lilo and Stitch.

Now, any post that starts with a quote from Lilo and Stitch HAS to be good. I picked the quote because my family is little. I was born an only child and neither of my aunts were able to have children but I still love my step cousins who are amazing!

Soo as you can imagine the holidays could be a little sparse with no siblings. However, every time they come around, it seems as if there is more and more "ohana" sitting around our dining room table sharing food, memories and stories. Sometimes I laugh so much I'm surprised I can eat after wards! (Note: my mother on the other hand makes enough food to feed a small army...we're lucky I can move after wards!)

This past week, Alyssa, granddaughter of some family friends we've known forever came over to share Easter Dinner with our family! I remember Alyssa being a baby and she's grown up so quickly! As usual, I brought the Nikon home with me and I hope you enjoy getting to meet Alyssa!

There's the smile I've been waiting for!

My family has this awesome little shed in the backyard! We had some fun shots around this.

ariana

hey all,

I promised the blogging would become more frequent! However, I didn't expect that Ariana, one of my gorgeous RA's, would agree to be a model for me so soon! It's been a gorgeous in Boston (until recently) and I was glad we were able to take advantage of this weather!

Ariana is a film student who is about to Graduate in May (yay!!). She just completed her portfolio and you should check out her site and demo reel HERE. She's going to do some amazing things now that she's done with school! Congrats Ari!!

We went to Boston Commons for this shoot! Too bad those runners decided to go to the Commons as well.

Smile!!
"Ari being Ari" is the only way I can describe this shot!

love is patient, love is kind...

It's been a while. Sorry for my absence. I can promise that my posts will be more frequent with the change in seasons! My job is lightening up as well which will lead to more photography!!

so for those of you that are wondering, i love flowers! particularly sunflowers and yellow roses. I couldn't find any yellow roses so I found these gorgeous roses to suffice for a photo shoot.

enjoy!!

everyday life in boston!

ello,

So I found that the funny thing about photography is that when my world is chaotic and crumbling around me, I can pick up the nikon and she see's things that make me smile. She finds the smallest part of a fence to look through, a happy couple holding hands at the T, gorgeous houses made of brick and mortar, and some day's the life you wish you had.

Over the long weekend, the nikon was suffering from some cabin fever as was I!! So what a better solution than to shoot with no plan and no restrictions! It's a wonderful feeling.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!

I have a love affair with macro photography.

 In another life maybe??

This was an early Saturday morning...I wonder where they were going?

One of my favorite churches on Boston! You'll notice I enjoy patterns as well.

 I'm not a huge chocolate fan...but.... mmmhm

Love that the fence is almost translucent.

Newbury Street

And then it snowed!!

 Gorgeous.

 Loved that gate!

Imagine how that gazebo would look in the summer??

:
The squirrel point of view?

If I didn't know any better I'd think this shot was taken back in the late 1800's.

Just tried to tilt the camera a bit.

ansel adams eat your heart out...

Ok, not really. I can't even joke about being nearly as brilliant as Ansel Adams but I did want to share some shots I took a few weeks ago during a snow storm. the campus I live on is gorgeous, especially when it snows (not when I am the only one living there in the middle of winter however! -- then it's more like The Shining)

Over the weekend I plan on getting out with the D90 and taking some shots around Boston. We haven't had our class in two weeks and I'm getting some cabin fever so walking around the city will do me well!

Enjoy...
